Celebrating Anniversaries & Love!

by Diane Sweeney on October 12, 2013

Today is my parent’s 56th wedding anniversary. Tomorrow is my 55th birthday. Do you know how old that sounds to someone who is 21?

My own parents are only roughly 20 years older than me. When I was 21 they were in their early forties. An age that I will forever think they still are. It was when I realized that they were so much more than just mom and dad. They were real people with real dreams and hopes, just like I had.

I enjoyed watching them enjoy life…and still do!

And now I am way past that age……

Isn’t it strange how differently we think of age at each stage of life?

I’m starting the next phase of life 15 years later than they did, but I have every intention of enjoying the next 30+ years the same way they have shown me how to by their example to:

  • Always show love for others
  • Keep family first
  • Stay close to friends
  • Eat healthy (but enjoying good food!)
  • Always keep moving
  • Focus on my faith
  • Delight in the accomplishments of others
  • Help someone every day
  • Discover new places, close by and far away
  • Laugh, always

My children may not think of me as young as I fall asleep on the couch at 9 PM or complain about my achy knees as I walk, but that’s not what feeling young is about.

It’s an attitude.

It’s a choice.

It’s a mindset.

It’s finding love in every day – loving yourself, loving others, loving life!

Today, in honor of my parent’s anniversary, I am asking each of you to show your love to someone else in some small way.

It will keep you young! It will keep you healthy! It will make you happy!

I’ve got proof!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad! I love you!

To your best,
